History

ILFA was founded in Hanover in 1979 and now employs more than 160 people at two locations. The company is famous for innovative solutions and state-of-the-art very fine and microfine conductor technology.

In our history of over 30 years of success a lot has happened. ILFA constantly expanded and will continue to do so. A brief summary of the important events in the company's past is given below.

1979 Establishment of the company, the core business is the fast turnaround production of PCBs.
1985 Extension of the range of services by CAD design services.
1986 First production of multilayer boards with eight layers.
1989 Move to the new company building at Lohweg in Hanover.
1991 Establishment of the branch at Dresden.
1994 Successful industrial trials of the DP40 for film-free exposure of PCBs ("Laser Direct Imaging").
1996 Certification to DIN EN ISO 9002.
1996 Production of MFT circuit boards ("MicroFine Circuit Technique") for MCM and COB modules with 50 µm track width and spacing.
1997 Publication of documentation in the Internet.
1997 Production of UTMs ("Ultra Thin Multilayer“ boards) with 50 µm thick inner layer laminates.
1998 Design and construction of liquid-cooled multilayer boards ("ILFACOOL").
1999 Patent for "ILFACOOL".
2000 Certification to the US circuit board standard IPC-A-600 (as the first manufacturer in Germany).
2001 IPC certification of the ILFA CAD layouter ("CID", Certified Interconnection Designers).
2002 Completion of the rebuilding and enlargement of the production capacities.
2003 Co-operation with large-series manufacturers in Europe and Asia. New Flying Probe Tester permits testing of 30 µm structures.
2004 The company celebrated its 25th anniversary.
2005 Extension of capacity by introduction of horizontal plating line (DMS method).
2006 The use of laser direct imaging (DP100-3L) permits higher precision for HDI-XL circuit boards.
2007 Introduction of new production panels and increase of the production capacity for Multilayer pressing, drilling, routing and electrical testing.
2008 Certification for DIN EN ISO 14001:2005 and preparation of certification for MIL-PRF 31032.
2009 Production surface and space for the technology and innovation centre increased up to 3000 sqm and the office space up to 1300 sqm. Initial operation of a block heat and power station: According to principle of the heat and power principle the machine generates at the same time electricity and heating and cooling energy.
